The dentist you
will actually see

Dr Jyoti Choudhary, BDS, MDS — eight years in practice, now in NIT-2, and a postgraduate qualification most patients have never had explained to them.

Dr Jyoti Choudhary took her BDS, then trained for three further years at PGIMS Rohtak for an MDS in Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry. She is registered with the Haryana State Dental Council, registration number HN 009934 — a number anyone is free to check. She has been in practice around eight years, the last of them at this clinic in NIT-2.

What the MDS actually is

An MDS is a three-year, full-time postgraduate degree taken after the dental degree, in a single branch of dentistry, in a teaching hospital. Hers is pedodontics: the dentistry of children, from the first tooth through to the last milk tooth going. Three years spent largely on patients who cannot describe a symptom accurately, will not sit still because they have been asked to, and notice everything.

What it changes in the chair, including for adults

A training of that kind is mostly a training in sequence and explanation. Instruments are named before they come near anyone. Work is broken into stages a person can sit through, rather than one long appointment that has to be endured. Anxiety is treated as clinical information — something that changes how the appointment is planned — rather than something to be waited out.

Adults who have avoided a dentist for a decade tend to be handled the same way, because the method was never really about age.

One dentist, one set of notes

She sees every patient herself; there is no rotating panel here. The clinical point is continuity. The person who took the first X-ray is the person who does the root canal and the person who looks at the crown a year later. One person holds the whole picture: which tooth was being watched rather than treated, which side you have been chewing on, what that gum looked like eighteen months ago.

Larger practices carry this across colleagues with notes and handovers. A single-dentist clinic simply does not have to hand it over. It is a difference in structure, not a claim about standards.

How a first appointment runs

Examination first, and a digital X-ray on site if one is needed. The findings are then explained with the image on the screen in front of you, rather than summarised at you. A written estimate follows — stages, sequence, cost — before anything begins.

Nothing is started on the first visit without your agreement, including when the sensible answer is to watch something for six months instead of treating it. Dental outcomes vary between individuals; what is put in writing is the plan and the price, not the result.

Scope

Children's dentistry is the specialism, not the limit. Implants, clear aligners and braces, root canal treatment, crowns, bridges and veneers, scaling and gum care, fillings, extractions including wisdom teeth, dentures, whitening, full-mouth rehabilitation and emergency care are all done here.

Patients come from NIT 1, 2, 3 and 5, Jawahar Colony, Sanjay Colony, Janta Colony, Dabua, Old Faridabad and Sectors 21 to 24. The clinic is open all seven days, 10 AM to 9 PM.
